Association Newsletter - September 2018

Greetings from the Board of Gordon Lakes Property Owners Association!

2018-2019 GLPOA Board Officers and Members: Christine DeFranco, President; Phil Blandine, Vice President; Mary Osbourne, Secretary; Melodi Schultz, Treasurer; Members at Large, Lori Messina and Mark Romain.

GLPOA MEETING SCHEDULED – WED. 9/26/18 @ 6:30 pm

September 26, 2018 from 6:30 – 8 pm there will be a GLPOA meeting held at the West Milford Library (2nd Fl). All community members are invited to attend. Members who have paid 2018 dues in full will be acknowledged and are eligible to vote (ERGO MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING PER OUR BYLAWS). Members who have not paid dues will have opportunity to do so.

UNACCOUNTED FOR FUNDS – Report Filed

The Board has been working to organize and reconcile the financial records of the past five years, including 2018. At the 2018 Spring meeting, the community was informed that funds were missing from the GLPOA account. After much fact-gathering on the part of the Board, records were turned over to the West Milford Police and a report was filed. An investigation has begun.

BACK DUES PAYMENTS – An Incentive

Invoices will be going out for back dues owed for 2015-2017. Yearly dues are $225.00, making the total amount for 3 years $675.00. if dues are paid in full before December 31, 2018 the fee will be reduced to $500.00. If late dues are not paid by the December date, they will be turned over to an attorney for collection. There will be an additional $375.00 for attorney fees added to the cost.

DUES ALLOCATION BREAKDOWN – Where the Money Goes

Dues are required to cover Association expenses such as: Taxes, Dam Inspections, Lake Insurance (to allow swimming), Annual Lake Treatment (necessary to control invasive weed and algae), Postage/PO Box, Upkeep to Bridge/Beach area, and Officers Liability Insurance. Lake Treatments are scheduled to begin the end of the 3rd week of September (sooner if the rain stops) and the Dam Inspection will take place in October. We do not have Lake or Board Insurance at this time due to the investigation of lost funds. We will need to have monies in place so that once the investigation is done we can pay for coverage as it is very important.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR COMMITTEES

At the September meeting, we will be looking for volunteers - members in good standing - who are willing to serve on committees helping with needs. Some of which are: Maintenance (Bridge, Dam and Beach), Bylaw Revisions, Webpage Update, etc.

Let's work together to keep our lake community functioning and beautiful.

Onward and upward,

GLPOA Board
